You can still use a cheaper screen

The gumstix can actually drive alot fo LCD displays natively. I dont know what the screen buffer arangements are either yet (getting there).

You dont have to use touch - i wanted to use it so that i can create interfaces different to normal 9 digit keypad. My primary goal is to create a platform to experiment on with new interface ideas and paradigms.

As is aid I wnat to play with interfaces and also explore what happens when phones can play with persistant back end web services. I even bought a large silver nob so i can play with that :-) ( ipod derivative interface )
